Jessica Sawyer is the protagonist of Hooked. She's a 32 year old producer of Australian reality television who is in desperate need of a 'schemer' for her new show. She also has an ex-boyfriend, Charlie, who she can't seem to shake off.

Eventually, she and roommate Kim will attempt to 'hook' Niccolo Machiavelli from the past to star on her show. That's how desperate she is.

Jess is hooked into the future herself, where she must solve the mystery of who murdered her and, in the process, come to terms with her various relationships.
